Tascam FW1082 or Mackie Control Universal - Songwriter & Music Producer

I am looking for a midi controller to use as a control service and the two I narrowd it down to, are the Tascam FW1082 and Mackie Control Universal. I chose these two because I need my studio to have a big studio feel without the huge board (Plus I wanted t lil more control without using a mouse for everything). They seem like they both have most of the same feature, but I wanted to know what you guys thought before I made a purchase. I am using a G5, running ProTools 7.0 on a 002. My setup works well the way it is, I just wanted to add the control surface. What do you think...all opinions welcome.

Basically i use the fw1884 myself i find the stability and real time effect beautiful regardless to the daw that i'm using. i find the HUI protocol is more stable than the mackie, so my chose for you would be the fw1082 and if you can spare the extra 500, go with the fw1884. the only draw back is that the interface is only compatible with cubase, but far as control surfaces you're good.
