Default Mixing Plug-Ins

My mixes sound great when I finish them in the studio, but when I get in the car they sound like crap. What can I do to fix this. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not an expert yet, but what I do know is; when you have more than one set of reference monitors connected, you can gauge your mixes better. Listen to the mix using different frequencies and volumes before you create your final mix down.

one thing that you can try to do is from the begining try to not record anything that you can't get sounding good from jump. recording with least coloration that you can live without. the less signal the better and also you would do good if you can find some monitors that are flat no curves at all.It could be just as simple as your monitors.

My take is "Learn your room, and monitors". I have had people sit next to me during my mix sessions and said you cannot be done. When they heard my mixes on their speaker systems and in the car, they wondered how it sounded so different. I just told them that Iit took me a while to learn my system. I use a pair of Yamaha NS-10's and a few others, but I listen on three or four monitors and house speakers.
Remember: Its an ART, not a Science.

Check the monitoring Environment, my guess is the room is at fault!! as well as use a reference disc when you mix similar to that of what your mixing that will help you better judge what your room is doin to the mix position
